What does Connestee mean?

Connestee is the name of the ancient Cherokee village about which a key myth developed after it disappeared mysteriously. The first archeological excavation in North Carolina was carried out there in the 1930s. The Connestee community is roughly the same as the current Dunn’s Rock Township in Transylvania County, North Carolina and the setting of parts of both books, Seven Cherokee Myths and Sons of Mercy and Justice: A Transylvania Story.
